2007 Fine Arts Week Juried Student Exhibition
The Jule Collins Smith Museum (JCSM) of Fine Art Auburn University in conjunction with the Association of Visual Artists (AVA) student organization is seeking submissions for artwork produced by any currently enrolled Auburn University Student to be exhibited at the Museum during the Fine Arts Week, March 13 through March 31, 2007. AU students may submit up to three (3) two- or three- dimensional works. These artworks may represent any discipline including but not limited to fine art, graphic design, wearable art, interior design, garment design, architectural drawings and studies, botanical drawings, and so forth; all works must have been created within the last four years. The goal of AVA and JCSM is to showcase the diverse talent of Auburn University students as a focus during Fine Arts Week.
Selection of Artwork
:Artworks will be selected for the exhibition based on their quality of execution and on the juror's vision for the overall exhibition. All three-dimensional work must be under 18"x18". Two-dimensional work must be ready to hang with a frame (minimal frame of natural wood or metallic on/in a white or off-white mat). Canvases must have solidly painted edges. All artwork must be original. Artist must be willing to loan the artwork to the JCSM from March 5 through April 4, 2007. Works must be submitted for the juror's decision to the 3D Building off of Samford Road by 5:00 p.m., Monday, March 5th. Works not selected must be picked up at the 3D Building between the hours of 12:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 7th. If you are unable to pick up your artwork during that time please make arrangements for someone to pick the work up on your behalf. The representative must have a signed note stating your approval of the pick up.
Juror
The exhibition juror is Dr. Lee Gray, Curator of Collections and Exhibitions at Jule Collins Smith Museum of Fine Art.
Submissions Should Include:
- Artist's full name, contact address, phone number and email address on a note card securely attached to the back of the work
- A description of the work (title, date of completion, dimensions, materials used)
- A signed agreement waiver for any damaged or stolen work (provided at the time of drop off)
- A brief statement about the artist and/or artwork (optional)

DRAWING ON ALABAMA CALL FOR ENTRIES
Alabama Bureau of Tourism and Travel has declared “2007 The Year of Alabama Arts”. Florence Neal, co-founder (1990) and executive director of the Kentler International Drawing Space, Brooklyn, NY will serve as juror for “Drawing on Alabama”. It is the intention of Auburn University, College of Liberal Arts, Department of Art to honor this declaration by seeking artists to submit entries for an All Alabama Statewide Juried Drawing Exhibition entitled “Drawing on Alabama”. The exhibition will occur in Biggin Gallery located in Biggin Hall on AU Campus in the downtown core of Auburn, AL from January 8 through February 23, 2007. This juried exhibition is open to all artists 18 and over who are currently living in the State of Alabama. This project has been made possible by grants from the Alabama State Council on the Arts and the National Endowment for the Arts.

ACCOMPLISHMENTS AND ACTIVITIES - CURRENT STUDENTS
Students in the Department of Art are sharing their talents with the Auburn and Opelika communities this year. Students from Associate Professor Christopher McNulty's advanced sculpture classes will exhibit their work at the Opelika Arts Association Gallery and Assistant Professor Wendy DesChene's beginning painting students will create a mural for the Colonial Mall.
