The B.F.A. in Studio Art

The B.F. A. in Studio Art is a four-year professionally oriented degree designed for students who are planning careers as artists or advanced study. A diverse and dynamic mixture of stylistic and aesthetic viewpoints among the faculty who teach studio courses challenges Fine Art students to develop their own philosophy and approach to art. Faculty members are practicing artists who are both teacher and mentor. Their goal is to instill the intellectual curiosity, critical thinking and art-making skills that will enable every student to find a means for innovative personal creative expression.

The B.F.A. degree at Auburn University is defined by a challenging curriculum. B.F.A. students complete 48 hours of studio course work, along with a sequence of four courses in one of four concentrations, painting/drawing, printmaking, ceramics, or sculpture which is followed by the Senior Project course in their final semester. This provides the in-depth study required for the B.F.A. degree. Advanced students are provided individual studio space so that they may achieve a high level of artistic accomplishment.
