Sculpture
Sculpture courses provide students with a foundation in both traditional sculptural processes — including carving, wood construction, welding, forging, and casting — as well as contemporary practices — including sound, kinetics, video, installation and performance. Over a four-course sequence, sculpture students regularly mix media, are highly sensitized to environment and space, and engage with contemporary critical theory and practice.
The Auburn Sculpture Area occupies 8,000 square feet of the recently constructed 3D Arts Building on the edge of campus. The area contains fully-equiped wood and metal studios, a large covered outdoor work area, and studio space for advanced majors.
