General Information

Save the date! The third annual Alabama Book Festival will take place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, April 19, 2008. The site will be the grounds of Old Alabama Town in the historic district of Montgomery.

Named the top literary event for 2007's Year of Alabama Arts and supported by more than 30 sponsors and partners, the festival is a signature event for the state and for those who love books and reading.

The 2008 festival will showcase more than 50 authors, storytellers, publishers, illustrators, and performers. It will feature a dedicated children's area and offer special programs for young adult readers and writers. Exhibitors and vendors will include antique book appraisers, libraries, and reading promotion partners, among many others.

Beginning in January 2008, names of authors/presenters will be listed on the website. Check back often to keep abreast of additions to the program.

The festival will partner with the Alabama Writers' Forum to host a teacher workshop in conjunction with the festival; information about it will be posted by January. We are also developing writing workshops and special panels for those interested in publishing. Watch the site for more details as we approach the festival date.

If you are an author/presenter or represent authors/presenters, please consider applying for the Alabama Book Festival. Information about how to nominate and apply can be found on this website.

If you are interested in volunteering for the festival, please let us know. You may email us at acftb@auburn.edu , or call the Alabama Center for the Book and speak with its staff. Our number is 334-844-4946.

We look forward to seeing you in April!
