Where is ACFTB?
The Alabama Center for the Book is located
at Pebble Hill in Auburn, Alabama. This is also the
location of the Caroline Marshall Draughon Center for
the Arts & Humanities in the College of Liberal
Arts at Auburn University.
What is the purpose of ACFTB?
The Alabama Center for the Book encourages
reading, writing, and the study of books in a wide range
of ways and venues. It sponsors public programming and
disseminates book-, literacy-, and reading-related information.
The Alabama Center for the Book also highlights Alabama’s
literary culture and heritage and, as an affiliate of
the Center for the Book in Library of Congress, promotes
national initiatives on books and reading.

What is ACFTB’s connection to Auburn University?
The Alabama Center for the Book is located
at Auburn University’s Pebble Hill, home of the
Caroline Marshall Draughon Center for the Arts &
Humanities. The two centers share one staff, whose members
are employed by AU.
The Alabama Center for the Book partners with many organizations on the AU campus to enrich its programming. Partners include:

What is ACFTB’s connection to the Library of Congress?
The Alabama Center for the Book is one of 51
state affiliates of the Center for the Book in the Library
Congress. These state centers use themes established
by the center in the Library of Congress and develop
activities that promote their own state's book culture
and literary heritage, sponsoring projects, and hosting
events that call attention to the importance of books,
reading, literacy, and libraries.
