Student Eminent Society

The College of Liberal Arts Student Eminent Society is a select 25-member group of Liberal Arts undergraduate students that serve as official hosts and hostesses for CLA events throughout the academic year. The Student Eminent Society (SES) is responsible for assisting the development staff with donor and alumni events such as football tailgates and donor receptions.  The SES works closely with dean’s events including the spring faculty awards banquet and annual scholarship ceremony.  The SES also serves as a liaison between undergraduate students and Liberal Arts alumni.  Student Eminent Society members provide services to, and promote pride in, the university and all of its functions through dedication of its students and organizations and responsibility to their performance.

The Student Eminent Society meets at 6:30 p.m. every other Tuesday of each month during the Fall and Spring semesters. All meetings are mandatory. Officers meet the Tuesday before each meeting to discuss important topics and prepare the agenda for the next general meeting.

Please use the Student Eminent Society Event Request Form to request the services of SES at your events.

The History of the College of Liberal Arts Student Eminent Society

The College of Liberal Arts Student Eminent Society was founded at Auburn University in February of 2004 to serve as an ambassadorial program for the college. The charter members were selected to be liaisons between the students, faculty and alumni of the College of Liberal Arts and to function as a face for the college. During the Society’s charter year, members assisted with the CLA Golf Scramble and hosted alumni at the college’s annual alumni tailgate. The 2004 group also had the opportunity to meet with the CLA Dean’s Advisory Board to discuss the future of the college. The following class of Eminent Society members attended the Auburn Family Fun Day and helped the college during Camp War Eagle. The 2006 class of Eminent Society members held the first CLA Dean’s Forum which featured presentations by Dean Anna Gramberg and Assistant Dean Constance Relihan. This group also was the first group to host at the College of Liberal Arts Scholarship Banquet and to serve at the Women’s Leadership Institute. Though the Student Eminent Society is young in years, its loyalty and service to the college have built a strong foundation for its future. To be a member of this organization is to uphold the tradition and fortitude of the College of Liberal Arts, the largest college on Auburn’s campus.
