Faculty Development

2009 Outstanding Faculty

Welcome to the College of Liberal Arts Faculty Development Information Site
This website was developed as a systematic, comprehensive, well-resourced effort to help us all do our best work and to learn and grow both as individuals and as an intellectual, inclusive academic community.
It was created to provide easy access to teaching, research, outreach, service and administrative resources necessary for advancing professional development.  The site was designed by a diverse and collaborative team of individuals across campus.  The site integrates a wealth of resources from within the college, across the campus, and from external sources through the use of technology. We seek to create a robust all-encompassing environment by supporting intellectual development for the advancement of faculty and staff in areas of research, teaching, learning, and discovery.
Auburn University maintains a range of programs that support professional achievement, research, teaching improvement, outreach and the life of the mind. Our college and departmental programs include short and long-term internal funding for conferences and research travel; support for course development and for scholarly and creative projects; new faculty orientation and other teaching workshops; mentoring; professional improvement leaves; opportunities for a reduced teaching load to undertake research or teaching improvement; and work to support the formation of groups that meet to discuss and work on topics of mutual interest.
A wide variety of projects are supported every year. We see particular value in collaborative and/or interdisciplinary projects, in faculty research that involves students, in creative work as well as more traditional scholarship.
Every semester, there are numerous well-attended on-campus opportunities for faculty members to present work in progress to their colleagues and receive helpful feedback.  On this site you will also find listed the awards by which the accomplishments of the College of Liberal Arts faculty members have been recognized, both locally and around the world.
This site was developed by Dr. Paula Bobrowski, Associate Dean for Research and Faculty Development bobrope@auburn.edu and Ann Knipschild, Professor of Music knipsak@auburn.edu.  We would like to express our great appreciation to all those that participated in the initial development and continuing evolution of the site.
