Access Control
Auburn University's Access Control unit has been shifting the responsibility of granting access to doors with card readers to individual colleges. The College of Liberal Arts has a number of buildings faculty, staff, and students use, so in order to request swipe card access, please read the following carefully.
Faculty, GTAs, staff, and, in some programs, students can receive swipe card access to select doors in buildings they are working.
In order to receive swipe card access, the designated office administrator of your department needs to request access in one of the following ways. Individual faculty and staff members cannot submit such requests.
- If you need to request swipe card access to the doors in Haley Center, please send a memo to Teresa Hawkins, Haley Center's Building Manager, sign and fax: 844-5590. On this memo, please include the following:
- name of person(s)
- Banner ID number(s)
- global user ID(s)
- room numbers (including outer doors of HC if necessary)
- time frame access is needed (faculty and staff will probably get indefinite, 24/7 access, while students should only get access for the semester(s) they need it.)
A template for this memo can be found at http://www.auburn.edu/administration/facilities/maintenance_operations/documents/card.pdf
- If you need to request swipe card access to the doors in Biggin Hall, Goodwin Hall, Tichenor Hall, Thach Hall, and the 3-D Arts Building, please send an email to Darrell Crutchley, CLA IT Specialist, email: dcrutchley@auburn.edu or to Jim DeWitt, email: dewitjg@auburn.edu. In this email, please include the following:
- name of person(s)
- Banner ID number(s)
- global user ID(s)
- room numbers (including outer doors if necessary)
- time frame access is needed (faculty and staff will probably get indefinite, 24/7 access, while students should only get access for the semester(s) they need it.)
- especially at the beginnig of a term, when a longer list of people need access to doors, use an Excel spreadsheet as an attachment to send out the information. Please let us know if you need help creating the file.
Please allow for one week of processing time. We understand that this is sometimes difficult, (i.e., events that need access to a room for one day, one weekend), but especially at the beginning of terms, such requests will be multiple and will take time to process, and while for all building but Haley we have two people who share the responsibility, for Haley Center, only Teresa Hawkins grants access, so she will definitely need to get the requests one week ahead of time to ensure that access can be granted.
