Scholarships

The Louise and Henry P. Johnston Scholarship

Annual scholarship of $500 established to benefit students in journalism and communication. Scholarship is alternated each year between journalism and communications majors. The 2010-2011 scholarship will be awarded to a COMM major. Requirements include having completed at least 45 hours of course work and a grade point average of 2.8 or better. Students should be seriously considering embarking on a career in some aspect of journalism or communication. Download .doc

The James W. Woodruff Jr. Endowment Fund for Scholarships in Communication

This endowment  is established by the Board of Directors of the J.W. and E.I. Woodruff Foundation of Columbus, Ga., for the purpose of providing a scholarship for students in the Department of Communication and Journalism in honor of Mr. James W.  Woodruff’s memory.  Like his father before him, James W. Woodruff Jr., was an innovator.  His major contribution to the Chattahoochee River Valley was the introduction of television to Columbus, Ga., with his station WRBL-TV.

James W.  Woodruff  Jr.  Scholars in Communication will have the opportunity to study radio, television and film production at a department with alumni ties to Time-Warner, the Showtime Network/Viacom, CBS, ABC and other companies.

The Woodruff Scholarship requires a 3.4 or higher GPA.  First preference goes to RTVF majors from the Chattachoochee  valley area, but all COMM, RTVF, or PRCM majors are encouraged to apply.  The scholarship is for $1,000. Download .doc
