Radio-Television-Film
The Radio, TV, and Film (including Broadcast Journalism) major instructs students in a wide variety of ways to understand the mass media. Production and writing courses teach students the basic skills necessary to work as media professionals. The majority of our upper-division courses focus on cultivating and understanding the development of radio, television, and film in the United States; on developing critical and analytical skills in interpreting media messages; and understanding business and corporate aspects of media industries. There is also a track specifically designed for those who wish to pursue a career in broadcast journalism. In addition, RTVF students have many opportunities to gain hands-on, practical media experience from their freshman year to graduation at Eagle Eye News, WEGL-FM 91.1 and several AU sports productions. When a RTVF student graduates from our program, she or he is ready to enter the exciting and challenging media profession.
Careers
RTVF students go on to internships and jobs with ESPN, Miramax, Warner Bros., MTV, NBC, ABC, CBS, FOX and a host of other national, regional, and local media organizations. Past students are involved in all aspects of the media including broadcast news reporting and anchoring, radio, TV, and film production, station management and network executive positions.
