Articulation Disorders
Children or adults with articulation/phonological disorders are typically seen by a student clinician under the careful supervision of a faculty member. Treatment sessions are generally scheduled twice each week for 30 or 60 minutes. The treatment techniques used vary widely and are selected to match the needs of each client. Regardless of the technique chosen, practice outside the clinic is essential. In the case of children, parents are asked to observe treatment whenever possible and home programs are established with materials and instructions from the clinician. In the case of adults, out-of-clinic practice tasks are established and monitored. Progress reports are provided at the end of each semester. Recommendations regarding the continuation of treatment are made at that time.
