Application Process

Applications for the B.S. program in Communication Disorders (CMDS) will be accepted twice a year. Application deadlines are January 30th for beginning in the Summer Semester and May 30th for beginning in the Fall Semester. Students will be notified of acceptance in time to register for Summer or Fall classes. Students may apply for admission any time after completion of 30 semester hours of Auburn University core courses or their equivalent at another institution students must submit an application and transcripts showing successful completion of 30 semester core hours. Admission will be based on grade point average of the student’s highest graded 30 semester hours of university core courses at the time of admission or cumulative GPA, whichever is higher. Use of the cumulative GPA is subject to departmental review to determine if course work is sufficiently challenging to insure success in the CMDS program. Each year the department will determine the maximum number of students that can be accepted based on accreditation standards and departmental resources. Students will be ranked by GPA and the top 25-30 students will be selected for the program. Late applicants will be accepted if there are openings and students who are not accepted may reapply. Consideration of early acceptance for outstanding applicants will be subject to departmental review and again based on accreditation standards and departmental resources. Each new major will be assigned a departmental advisor who will assist the student to develop a plan of study. This plan of study will delineate when the student will take CMDS courses and will guarantee the student a seat in these classes as s/he progresses through the curriculum.
