Master of Arts in English
Students completing the MA at Auburn University develop a deep and broad understanding of English Studies, its approaches, content, issues, and research methods. The Department offers a wide range of courses in American, British, and comparative literatures, literary theory, creative writing, linguistics, rhetoric and composition, and technical and professional communication. In achieving its goal, our program is designed to serve two distinct groups:
- those seeking the MA as a terminal degree that will deepen and enhance an undergraduate major. Such students are prepared for careers in writing, editing, business, secondary and community college teaching, and other professions seeking broadly educated individuals with analytic and communication skills.
- those who plan to earn the PhD or another professional degree and become scholars and teachers in colleges and universities
