Master of Technical and Professional Communication

Our students and alumni Enjoy writing?
Like learning new technologies?
Appreciate good design?
Thrive as a member of a team?

Auburn University’s Master of Technical and Professional Communication may be the graduate program for you.

Since the first students graduated in 2002, more than 50 students have earned MTPC degrees. Almost all of those students (more than 90%) are employed; most got jobs within a few weeks of graduation. According to the Occupational Outlook Handbook, demand for technical communicators is expected to increase faster than the demand for other types of writers “because of the continuing expansion of scientific and technical information and the need to communicate it to others.”

The MTPC program is a flexible, 30 credit-hour graduate program that prepares students for a great variety of positions as writers, editors, web designers, information developers, proposal specialists, corporate trainers, among others in this fast-growing field.

The MTPC program at Auburn allowed me to transform my educational background in English into a more marketable and pragmatic skill set that is somewhat of a commodity in the IT industry. Very few universities offer undergraduate coursework in technical communication, much less an master's degree in the field, and in this sense, Auburn offers students a great opportunity to increase their value in the business world.
