Angela C. Farmer

Angela Farmer received her PhD from Auburn Universkty in spring 2008. She specializes in masculinity studies and American literature and film of the long twentieth century. Her dissertation, Monsters, Men, and Machines: Gender in American Literature and Film 1945-1965, investigates the politicized production of the American male ethos by exploring literary and cinematic renderings of masculinity as rhetorically constructed through epidictic character development, plot maneuvers, and linguistic cues. Angela has published articles on and has given conference presentations on masculinity studies, American humor studies, and visual studies (including contemporary film and television).

As a Graduate Teaching Assistant at Auburn University, Angela enjoyed teaching Composition courses and World Literature courses. Prior to coming to Auburn, Angela taught at Saint Xavier University in Chicago, where she earned her BA and MA in English. She also taught at Moraine Valley Community College and Trinity Christian College, both in the southwestern suburbs of Chicago.

Angela lives in Auburn with her husband and three children and their many pets.
