LOCATION: Cuernavaca, México

Cuernavaca is located in a pleasant valley about 60 miles south of México city. This places the students within easy reach of the cultural richness and excitement of the Mexican captial. Acapulco, Oaxaca, Puebla, and Taxco are also easy to reach from Cuernavaca. The city of Cuernavaca has a population of about 250,000 permanent residents. A peaceful and safe university town and one of the Western Hemisphere’s favorite vacation spots, Cuernavaca’s seasonal population can be nearly twice that number. Because of its year-round temperate climate (average 75 degrees) and its lush and beautiful flora, Cuernavaca is known as the “City of Eternal Spring.” The city’s general atmosphere tends to be that of a big town. Life is relaxed and easy, yet the main square or zócalo, surrounded by sidewalk cafes, restaurants, bookstores and the like, is always alive. The Center for Bilingual and Multicultural Studies of Universidad Internacional is located in a quiet residential neighborhood of Cuernavaca. Twenty-seven spacious classrooms and thirty-five professors give The Center the distinction of having the only campus in Cuernavaca specifically designed for language instruction. Landscaped grounds, fountains, swimming pools and an outdoor patio/café contribute toward it being called “Cuernavaca’s most attractive learning center.” Golf and tennis courts, bowling alleys, swimming pools, movie theaters, restaurants, bookstores, outdoor markets, performances by street musicians (mariachis), and sidewalk cafés surrounding the main city square provide additional sources of entertainment and leisure during spare time.
