British-born Robin Fabel (Professor of History, Emeritus, retired, 2001, Auburn History Ph.D., 1974) came to Auburn after teaching at Worksop College and Arkansas College. The first man to receive a doctorate in history from Auburn, he became an assistant professor there in 1975 and retired in 2001 as the Hollifield Professor of Southern History. He published four books with academic presses and his book chapters or articles number thirty. As a Fulbright fellow he taught in 1967 in Singapore and again in 1998 in South Africa. In 1992 he was honored as Auburn University Graduate School Teacher of the Year.
He received his B.A. and M.A. from St. John's (Oxford).
