A native of Nashville, Tennessee, Andy holds three degrees: the Bachelor of Arts (Religious Studies, 1996) and Master of Arts (Religion, 2001) from Trevecca Nazarene University, and the Master of Theological Studies (2006, History of Christianity) from the Divinity School of Vanderbilt University.
A Ph.D. candidate in American History, he has interests in the religious and social history of the American South, especially the history of Methodism and the holiness movement. His dissertation explores aspects of this history in the late 19th and early 20th century through the life of B. F. Haynes.
