Shannon Huggins

Shannon C. Huggins earned her bachelor's degree at the University of Montevallo and was graduated summa cum laude in 1998. As a Ph.D. candidate at Auburn, Huggins majored in Early American History with minor fields in Modern U. S. History, and Early Modern Europe. Huggins' dissertation, "The Power of Speaking: Female Identity, Legitimacy, and Leadership in American Quakerism, 1700-1776," is under the direction of Dr. Ruth Crocker.

Huggins has received the Milo B. Howard Fellowship, 2005-2006; the Claire D. and Jane A. Heidler Memorial Award, 2004-2005; Graduate Travel Grants 2003-2005; the Colonial Dames Award, 2002; the Malcolm McMillan Research Award, 2002; and the Robert Reid Fellowship, 2000-2001. She is a member of the Organization of American Historians, the Southern Association of Women Historians, the Pennsylvania Historical Society, and the Friends Historical Association. She is currently teaching at Huntingdon College and writing her dissertation.
