Michael Johnson

Michael Johnson is originally from Houston, Texas, and received his bachelor's degree in History from Texas A&M University. He later received a Master's degree from the University of North Texas, where he wrote a thesis on the human elements of Skylab, America's first space station. A portion of this work, focusing on the lessons learned from Skylab, was presented during the 2009 Graduate Colloquium. Michael began his coursework at Auburn University in the fall of 2007, studying under Dr. James Hansen and Dr. William Trimble. He plans on writing his dissertation on the mission control centers of various space programs, focusing on the social and material cultural histories of their construction and any nationalistic tendencies behind their layouts. He is a member of the Society for the History of Technology. Michael currently serves as the President of Phi Alpha Theta and as a GTA Co-Captain.
