Lynn McWhorter

Lynn Price McWhorter, middle child of Johnny Leo McWhorter and Burdene Price McWhorter, was born in Sulphur, Louisiana. He attended the public schools of Calcasieu Parish until he and his family moved to Conehatta, Mississippi, where Lynn graduated from Decatur High School.

Since high school Lynn has labored on a dairy farm, worked as a tractor and automobile mechanic, served as pastor of Beat Line Baptist Church, graduated Mississippi College (Clinton, MS) with a Bachelor of Arts in History, graduated Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary (Wake Forest, N.C.) with a Master of Divinity, and achieved member level in the American Association of Pastoral Counselors.

Lynn entered Auburn's Ph.D. program in 2000 and is writing his dissertation on the social history of mill workers in Avondale Mills of Alabama under the direction of Professor J. Wayne Flynt.

Lynn is married to Patsy Renee Self McWhorter—his hero—and is the father of Price Townes McWhorter, a wonderful boy who arrived in 2005.
