Darryl Austin

Graduate Student

  • Bio

Darryl earned his BA in History at the University of Tennessee in 2002. After a three year break, Darryl attended the University of North Alabama, then transferred to the University of Alabama Huntsville to earn an MA in History in 2006.

Darryl spent a year teaching Western Civilization and United States History at Northwest Shoals Community College. The opportunity to attend the PhD History program at Auburn arose in the summer of 2007. The decision to go was one of the easiest ever made.

Darryl's major field is United States, Colonial to Civil War, with an interest in the political shift from Articles of Confederation to the 1789 U.S. Constitution. His minor fields are the Archival Program and Europe, Renaissance to World War I. His breath field is Political Science.

Auburn is simply a fantastic place to study. The people here are genuine and there is a real sense of community from top to bottom. I feel privileged to have this opportunity.
