The Department of Music is dedicated to improving and enriching the lives of the public through music. We sponsor and host a number of on-campus events that bring in more than 2400 students from middle and high schools.

We are also actively involved in sharing music throughout the state and region. Faculty ensembles, such as the Woodwind Quartet and Trio and the Brass Trio, bring music to communities throughout the state and region, many of which lack substantive arts programs. The Auburn University Concert Choir and Singers and the Symphonic Band visit different towns and schools throughout the state each year. Other student ensembles that give concerts include the Woodwind Quintet, Horn Quartet, Percussion Ensemble and Vocal Chamber Ensemble.
Our faculty is engaged in a number of other outreach activities, including recitals, master classes, clinics, workshops, guest conducting and private lessons for prospective students. Goodwin Hall hosts numerous local recitals throughout the year given by faculty members, guest artists and students open to the general public.
