Ph.D. in Public Administration and Public Policy
This program is a joint program with two campuses: Auburn University (in Auburn) and Auburn University in Montgomery. We offer a PhD degree in Public Administration and Public Policy. Students in the program can choose to concentrate in public administration or public policy or both.
Applicants should already have earned master’s-level degrees before admission to the program. Admissions are rolling and while, there is no firm admission deadline, applications for fall admission are most likely to receive timely consideration if completed by July 1. Students hoping to receive Graduate Teaching Assistantships in their first year should have their applications complete by mid-May.
To complete the program, all students must take a minimum of 13 graduate courses, including certain specific courses required for all. Most of the relevant graduate courses (and all of the specifically required core courses) at AU and AUM are taught in the late afternoon or evening hours in order to minimize conflicts between graduate seminars and the undergraduate teaching responsibilities of GTAs.
All students must apply for the program at the Auburn campus, regardless of where they anticipate taking most of their courses.
All students must take at least 3 of their courses on each campus and must include at least one faculty member from each campus on their committee.
