Welcome to the Department of Political Science
The Department of Political Science is in charge of three undergraduate degree programs, featuring separate majors in political science [POLI], in public administration [PUBA], and in health services administration [HADM].
In addition, our department plays a major role in the Auburn University Core Curriculum by teaching two of the three alternative courses that may be used to satisfy the Social Science II requirement: POLI 1020 Political Economy and POLI 1090 American Government in a Multi Cultural World. Students who choose to major in another discipline but still wish to develop a secondary area of expertise in government and politics may pursue a more limited course of study in this department leading to a minor in political science.
For more advanced students who have already earned a bachelors degree, our department also offers courses of study leading to two different postgraduate degrees: a masters degree in public administration (MPA) and (jointly with our colleagues at Auburn University in Montgomery) a doctorate in public administration and public policy (PhD). Information about the detailed requirements for each of our degree programs may be found under the appropriate subheadings of this web site.
