Mark Burns is Associate Professor in the Department of Political Science and Website Coordinator for the Health Administration Program at Auburn University. He holds the Ph.D. in Political Science from Indiana University, Bloomington, Indiana, plus the A.M. degree in Political Science from Indiana and the B.A. degree in Political Science from Lambuth University, Jackson, Tennessee. He has been teaching at Auburn since 1975. He is married to Janet Burns, Administrative Coordinator for the Alabama Council on Human Relations, Auburn, and has four adult children—Susan, Thomas, Alan, and Elizabeth. They are active members of Trinity Lutheran Church.

Interest Areas

Dr. Burns's primary teaching areas are health administration, health policy, and organization theory. Research by Dr. Burns has appeared in such journals as Administration and Society, Health Care Management Review, The Journal of Health and Human Services Administration, and The Southeastern Political Review.
