René McEldowney

Health Administration Advisor (N-Z)
Rene McEldowney is the Director of the Health Administration program and faculty in the College of Liberal Arts, an associate professor in the Department of Political Science and the Physician's Executive Master of Business Program in the College of Business. She holds a Ph.D. in Public Health Care Policy from Virginia Tech University, Blacksburg VA, a post-doctorial fellowship at Oxford University in the United Kingdom, and an MBA from Marshall University. She has been teaching since 1992 after an eight year career in the health care industry and has an extensive array of professional experience both at the national and international level.
Her primary teaching areas are international health care systems and administration, health care reform, insurance and reimbursements, and teaching pedagogy.
Dr. McEldowney is a Nuffield Research Fellow and a member of the College of Liberal Arts Academy of Teaching and Outstanding Teachers. She has also received numerous research and publication awards. She is co-author of a book titled "The Health Care Financial Crisis", and has published book chapters and numerous research articles in journals such as:
