Psychology Majors
How to Become a Psychology Major
Admission to the Psychology Major
Policies, Procedures and Application
Students are admitted to the Psychology major by:
- application to the Department of Psychology and
- meeting the following minimum criteria:
- Completion of 15 semester hours
- Cumulative GPA of 2.5 in PSYC 2010: Introduction to Psychology and a core Mathematics course
Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis and are reviewed once a month. Because the review process can take up to two weeks, students are advised that it may take the psychology office up to six weeks to notify them about decisions regarding their acceptance into the major. Students who meet all of the psychology major requirements are accepted into the major (i.e., we have no criteria for the number of students accepted into the major and we do not rank students based on GPA, etc.).
Please note that we will not accept psychology major applications from students during the same semester that they plan to graduate. For example, if a student plans to graduate in the Spring 2010 semester, he or she must be accepted into the psychology major prior to the first day of the Spring 2010 semester.
