Music Theatre Program Announces Fall Auditions

Auburn University Theatre will conduct auditions for its music theatre program on Sunday evening, August 17 at 6:30 p.m. on the mainstage of the Telfair Peet Theatre. Candidates for the program must prepare a three minute audition featuring a song from a music theatre production and a contrasting monologue. Students admitted to the program must major in theatre be prepared to complete the degree requirements as specified by the department. Admission to the music theatre program is competitive and highly selective. Space in the incoming class is limited and continuance in the program is based on successful completion of course requirements and satisfactory progress as measured by theatre faculty in regular review of each music theatre major in every semester.

Instructor: Judith Nelson, Associate Professor of Theatre

Judith Nelson has been a professional dancer,
choreographer, actor and teacher for over 25 years, working in musical theatre and dance companies in New York, Los Angeles, and around the U.S. and Europe. She has been on leave in New York pursuing professional interests in theatre and dance.

Positions Open for 12 students at $10 hour!
No experience is necessary for you to join our team!
First year students are encouraged to apply!

Students Workers (work study perfered) work closely with Technical Directors, Designers and Guest Designers in the construction, painting, lighting and sound setup, rigging and any other technical work involved in mounting the department's mainstage productions. We need you to be able to lift 40 pounds and be able to climb ladders and at times working in confined spaces. We train you and qualify you in the use of power tools and shop equipment, lighting equipment, rigging equipment, moving scenery and costume construction equipment.

You learn it all!

These positions require a one semester or one year committment from the applicant. A minimum of 4 hours a week scheduled time between 8am and 5pm is required. Extra hours are available during the term and at times students may be requested to work special shifts when we take down scenery after a show (this is called Strike).
